SPEAKER 1: Hobby Quick hit, delivering that breaking hobby news directly to your in laws.

SPEAKER 1: I know those had dropped from the car shaft.

SPEAKER 1: We've got you covered with your host, John, a new man.

SPEAKER 1: Welcome to episode 166 of Hobby Quick Hits today. Something a little different than the norm, on this show at least. And, we're going to do a box battle between 2021 22 upper deck, premier hockey and 2021 22 upper deck ultimate hockey. I am fortunate to get to review some of these products.

SPEAKER 1: And so, I will talk about the specs what's in these boxes, the odds, and what I pulled, the nice thing for everybody, including myself is I get to give away these, hits and stuff as, giveaways. So, you'll see me run those on my Social Media, not, not during the show itself. So we're gonna break down the tail of the tape between premiere versus ultimate.

SPEAKER 2: Ok. Now a quick word from our great sponsor, followed by the new product release schedule. Then we'll go around the hobby verse to tell you all the latest hobby happenings. And news. Then we'll tackle today's topic of discussion.

SPEAKER 1: All right, let's check out the new releases for the next two weeks. All right. On November 22nd, we have numerous releases. So these are all November 22nd. 2023. Leaf Goal soccer.

SPEAKER 1: 2023. Panini Dros.

SPEAKER 1: Elite WWE 2023. Panini National Treasures. Collegiate Foot Football. 2324. Panini NBA hoops, basketball. 23 tops. Definitive baseball, 2023 tops garbage pail kids, inter gac mayhem hobby and collector. 2023 tops museum collection, baseball, upper deck Blizzard Legacy collection and 2022. 23 upper deck stature. Hockey on the 24th, A K A my birthday 2023 on E Clubhouse collection. Game use betting clubs. Baseball.

SPEAKER 1: 2023 true creator jewel edition 2023 wild card seven card studs, quarterback edition football on the 29th. Again another flurry of releases. These are all the 29th, 2023 leaf exotic multis sport rookies 2022 23 OPG platinum hockey 23. Panini chronicles racing 2023 tops, major league soccer.

SPEAKER 1: 2023 tops, Star Wars Finest and 2022. 23 upper deck S US P I should say game used hockey on the first of December 2023 decision update.

SPEAKER 1: 2023 Panini Dross football and last but not least at least 2023 pieces of the past one time edition series two. So there are your releases for the next two weeks. Keep in mind there could be pushbacks or delays, but that is what's on the docket. And as I always say, choose your weapon. Happy ripping.

SPEAKER 3: Let's go round the hobby verse and catch up on this week's hobby news and find out kind of hits a choke hitter and a swing hitter.

SPEAKER 4: Our swing hitter, Jenny gets the full length of the bat and swings right from the heels.

SPEAKER 1: Thanks Babe for the hitting tip. You're gonna have to bid from the heels to win the 1914 Baltimore News. Babe. Ruth card currently on the auction block at re a Robert Edward auctions. As of the time of this recording, it is up to five point $2 million with exactly two weeks left. It ends on Sunday night. I am recording this new segment on Sunday night.

SPEAKER 1: So you have 14 days to get your bid in. It's up to 5.2 million dollars already. Congrats to our Sports Car Nation sponsor, re A for having this card in the auction. I have predicted that this card when the smoke clears and dust settles will be the highest bought and purchased single graded card in the history of the hobby, more former Yankee Slugger News.

SPEAKER 1: In this case, Mickey Mantle, as you've heard me talk previously about the rally offering of Mickey Mantle's Boyhood Home, which I bought some shares in that has already paid its first dividends at 36 cents a share. So I have $2.52 already back. On my 49 dollar initial investment, that has sold out that IP O and look for Rally CEO Rob Petrozzo on the December 8th edition of Sports Car Nation.

SPEAKER 1: Some tops fanatics news, the, the MLB patch debut cards will be inserted as redemptions when you get one. If you're fortunate enough to you have an option to have it delivered to you or delivered directly for grading free of charge. On tops account, Your choices for grading are SGC CJ, CJ CGC and Beckett BGS. No PS A.

SPEAKER 1: So a lot of people not pumped about that that are PS A fan folks if you will. But if you pull one of these and you want it graded by PS A, you'll just have to ask for it to be hand delivered and you will have to grade it yourself. So not impossible to get it in A P SAS laptops are just not going to do it for you. Staying on the tops front. They've announced their 2023 inception brand will feature first hit cards.

SPEAKER 1: So much like the debut cards, these will be rookies who got their first hit and as part of the card will be a game use base. I'm assuming first base. If, if it's their first hit. They gotta get the 1st, 1st, will be on that card. So, following the debut patches, it will be the first hit, cards and I'm, I'm not gonna lie.

SPEAKER 1: I, I like these kind of, cards. I think they're cool. They're cool piece of history. So, look forward to those. In 2023 inception, Ebay has announced they are sponsored there, the sponsor of the Phillys Show And I think you're gonna see more of this with Ebay and then shows in general getting title sponsors.

SPEAKER 1: And you know, I'm, I'm predicting sort of a, an Ebay slash fanatics kind of show competition if you will as they each kind of start doing shows, I think they're going to be, it's going to get competitive on that front. Sotheby's and the NBA have announced a partnership for Sotheby's to be the auction house for game used NBA Jersey. So, the 1st 60 I believe have went up on, on Sotheby's.

SPEAKER 1: So if you're looking for a game used NBA Jersey, Sotheby's is going to be your auction house of choice. And last but not least, not a lot of details to report, but Wwnewwe and Panini, that lawsuit has been settled out of court in that case, dismissed, no details announced to what that settlement incurred. But that is no longer going to be litigated our feature presentation.

SPEAKER 1: All right. We're doing the upper deck hockey box battles. First off, I wanna thank upper deck for allowing the opportunity to review these releases. Let's talk about each one of these. I, I won't dawdle. I'll go through it kind of quickly. 2021 22 upper deck, premier hockey retail price around the 240 Mark one pack six cards. That's it. Base cards are 1 to 90 rookies, 101 to 150 legends are number 91 to 100.

SPEAKER 1: So 100 50 card set base cards are all numbered to at least or only 2 to 99. Base rookies till 399 base legends to 99. You can get a base gold number to 65 A legends gold number to 25. A rookie gold number to 2199. A rookie bronze to 65 and a rookie purple to 10. There are platinums, one of ones for all tiers, rookie legends and base cards.

SPEAKER 1: Alls are 99 number to 99 or less hand signed premier rookie autos. That is quad relic rookie patch autos Retros are numbered to 49.

SPEAKER 1: Some of the inserts, new star systems that's new this year you got acetate rookie auto patches number to 249 or less.

SPEAKER 1: Acetate patch auto horizontals to $99 or, or 99 or less acetate veteran auto patches to 25 or less. You have 40th anniversary autos number to 100 or less. And a mega patch premiere rare. And so that's on the premiere side. Let's talk about what I actually pulled right here are the six cards I pull pulled. I had a Jersey premiere from Quinn Hughes.

SPEAKER 1: A Jersey, premier rookie, from the Devil's Alexander Holtz.

SPEAKER 1: I got an auto, Josh Anderson, premier auto, I got a premier rookie Igor Sokolov from the Senators that is numbered out of 199. I got a premier base card of Casey Mitad from the Sabers that is numbered out of 299 and probably the biggest hit in the box.

SPEAKER 1: Only number to 25 actually two of 25. It's a premier rookie auto patch of from the Ducks, Jamie Drysdale. So it's an RP A and the patch is really, really sharp. Three colors looks like it's from the nameplate on the back of the Jersey. So that was the bigger hit.

SPEAKER 1: When it comes to value probably fell short of the retail 240.

SPEAKER 1: That's the chance you take when you, you know, the 66 card product, but the cards are, are really sharp looking. They definitely have a a premium or premier if you will feel to them all thick stock. So it's one thick pack, per box. So that is on the premier side. Let's talk about what, what's offered in the ultimate and what did I get?

SPEAKER 1: All right, let's talk about the specs from the 2021 22 upper deck ultimate collection. Hockey. These, these boxes retail about 150 to 160. A little bit less than the premiere one pack, one big thick pack, four cards. It's a 200 card set including 75 veterans, 25 legends. Those will be number two, 149 or less 100 card rookie set including autos.

SPEAKER 1: There are retro ultimate signatures new this year ultimate emblems, autos with the shield patches, rookie accents, ultimate inscription, redemptions, debut threads number 249 or 99 other auto threads to 49 or less new ultimate displays, hand sign which include it's like a framed sort of look to it with a patch and an auto and those are on card autos rookie signature materials, signature masterpieces or material Laureates, ultimate signatures, premium material, ultimate Jersey and stick with me.

SPEAKER 1: Which feature actually game use sticks as part of the memorabilia on the card. So I have four cars that I pulled out of my pack. Let's talk about that. I did get one of those ultimate displays, autographs and Josh Anderson again, so I got a Josh Anderson auto out of each of these products. The ultimate displays also features a swatch of Jersey. It's a white swatch.

SPEAKER 1: This card is numbered out of 1 35 74 out of 135. So if Josh Anderson does well, I'm in, I'm in good shape. I'm just just kidding. I got a ultimate introductions. Rookie Auto of Casper Bor Quist from the Penguins.

SPEAKER 1: And that is, I don't see not numbered. So a rookie ultimate introductions auto of Bjor Quist from the Penguins. I've got a ultimate introduction showcase. Rookie of Anton Lundell of the Florida Panthers. Not a rookie.

SPEAKER 1: Oh yeah, yeah, it is not numbered here. So, ultimate introduction and that looks like an insert and they got a ultimates dual patch from the f Florida Panthers of Alexander Barko and Jonathan Huber do.

SPEAKER 1: So Huber do and Barko dual patch, the bark off is red patch and the Huber do is white patch and that also is not numbered again, probably fell short a little short value wise.

SPEAKER 1: And again, that's, you know, high end products you, you know, not every but it's like a lottery ticket, right?

SPEAKER 1: Again, these are all thicker cards and that ultimate patch of Florida Panther cards about 180 points. So super thick on the four cards, ultimate is, is really a sharp looking card, a lot of foil, thicker stock etching in that so very pleased with the aesthetics of it. If I have to choose a winner here, I'm gonna go with the premier just a few more extra cards and I just did better overall on, on what I pulled.

SPEAKER 1: So both products are very sharp looking. I, I I've said this before I've even ever reviewed started reviewing products for upper deck. They produced some of the most aesthetically pleasing designs in the market. So, kudos to upper deck there again, thank you to them for allowing us to review these products.

SPEAKER 1: Many of these hits that I pulled will be given away as future giveaways and prizes for the podcast. So again, thanks to everyone out there.
