Hobby Boxes we'll retail at three hundred value boxes at fifty. They're also releasing a twenty twenty five Cops Formula one Fanatics Fest Edition, and there'll be a third release to be determined.
They haven't announced what the third release will be, so save your if you're going to that and want those products. Speaking if, Speaking of shows, the Northeast Sports Card Expo has announced their twenty twenty six event to be taking place in Marlboro, Massachusetts. It will be the largest Northeast show ever, one thousand tables, one hundred and fifty thousand square feet. It's at the Four Kicks Sports Complex and that will take place June twenty sixth to twenty eighth, so Friday to Sunday there and looks to make history as the largest Northeast card show.
You know, Fanatics Fest is not really billed as a card show, so the Northeast Sports Card Expo folks are raising the bar starting in twenty twenty six. Let's talk some deals here. Golden State Valkyries, the new WNBA franchise, has announced that they have signed on with Mi Gray Auctions for game used items to head to my grace Way for auction and sale through them. It's the first WNBA team to sign on in that fashion with My Grays.
What else we got? Complex, a YouTube platform with six point seven million subs, is partnering with Fanatics for a new show called Card Shopping, which will feature a celebrity each episode and their collection and show them making a substantial purchase. The first guest of Card Shopping on the Complex Network will be none other than Tom Brady, who, as we all know, recently, has really jumped in to the card hobby in a big way, including ownership of an LCS. You probably heard. You know, we don't do this show every week, so we've got two weeks worth the news.
Pete Rose, Shueless, Joe Jackson, and others were reinstated back to Major League Baseball by Commissioner Rob Manfred. I don't think Pete Rose is getting in the hall right away, might be a couple of years. Shoeless Joe might have an easier route, as many feel like he didn't do anything wrong from the get go. But we're gonna see.
We're seeing the hobby effects of it already, with prices increasing on those gentlemen's cards. Let's get to some legal matters. Friend of the show and fellow Brooklyn Knight Greg Krinler, with the aid of another show alumnus, lawyer Paul nett LESCo, have won a lawsuit or have settled a lawsuit, I should say against actionnor who took a grindler lou Garrett Pope painting and made a card for sale on eBay of it. Another outfit, a smaller one, did the same thing with a Jackie Robinson grindler painting and they have ceased and desist.
So Paul LESCo getting it done a hobby lawyer, maybe we'll have to have him back on and maybe we could do a show with him and Craig and kind of talk about all this kind of stuff that, you know, people robbing other people of their intellectual and and their work. Right, not good, so good good, good for Craig and good for Paul representing Craig. So no suit for people who steal other people's work, which is horrible. All right, let's you know, we can't do an episode without some sort of national talk.
But let's not talk about this year's national. Let's talk about the twenty twenty eight national, which will be either in Atlanta, Georgia, or Detroit, Michigan. In Atlanta, we'll be at the If it is Atlanta, we'll be at the Georgia World Conference Center, which is right near the football stadium. I think it's the Mercedes Benz Dome, is what it's called.
And if it's in Detroit, it will be at the Huntington Place Convention Center. So we know the National's in Chicago this year and then the next two in twenty twenty six, twenty seven, but the twenty twenty eight, to be determined by vote of dealers, will either be in Atlanta, Georgia, or Detroit, Michigan. You know, if you ask me which one, either one right and nothing against Chicago, but I do want to see the National move around. So whatever the voters decide Detroit Atlanta, really you won't get any kind of I think they're probably the same distance away or pretty close.
I really haven't done the math, but we'll see, and you know, it'd be nice to see it at another location, So I'm kind of I guess i'd say I'm kind of routing for Atlanta because you know that we haven't had one in the South since I've been going to him. Anyway, I know they've been there before in Atlanta has hosted one previously, but many many moons ago. So we'll see how this all shakes out. Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred has spoken and he has reinstated the following seventeen players and people from the Major League Baseball's ineligible list.
They were all deceased, which is what he cited to reinstate them that a lifetime ban should end upon death. The seventeen players and people are as followed. They are obviously headlined by Pete Rose and shoeless Joe Jackson, who, in my opinion, are the only two on this list that could be Hall of Fame folks. The other fifteen I don't believe so, But let's go over the other fifteen as well to be fair to them.
Eddie Chicot a pitcher for the White Sox during that scandal. He got lit up in Game one, but he only allowed one earned run and his two following starts, and it's rumored that he was in on the fix, you know, played bad in that first start and then changed his mind and played well the next two starts. He was actually acquitted on the charges. So there's him.
You got Happy Felch, another Black Sox scandal guy who batted one ninety two during the series. Chickendell, the organizer of the scandal who got the ball rolling batted only two thirty three during the series. Fred McMullen. Another player, Swede Riiseberg, who went two for twenty five during the series, was reinstated.
Buck Weaver, a player who really didn't play in the series, was banned because he knew about the scandal and said nothing about it. Just kind of stood idly by. Lefty Williams so one of the poster boys for the Black Sacks scandals. White Sox Starter, took three l in the World Series and until nineteen eighty one he was the only player pitcher to lose three starts in a World series, so he was definitely on the take.
He's reinstated. Joe Gideon and Jean Paulette. They were non World Series participant players, but also knew of the scandal and said nothing, so they were banned. They are now eligible again.
Lee McGhee, who had nothing to do with the Black Sox scanner, but he fixed a Cubs game and was banned. He is back. Benny Koff had nothing to do with betting or scan that, but he was convicted of some crimes and faced a lifetime ban. Phil Douglas and had an argument and disagreement with John McGraw the manager and sent the letter to another player saying he would sit out games so that Giants would lose.
That cost him a lifetime ban. Jimmy O'Connell and Cozy Dolan in nineteen twenty four fixed games against the Giants. They served a lifetime ban. And lastly, the only non player to get a lifetime ban, William Cox, who was the owner of the Phillies for two hundred and seventy six days, was caught betting on baseball and became the first non player ever to be banned from the game.
He has been reinstated, so seventeen people reinstated. But obviously we're going to talk specifically about the two people who can legitimately get into the Hall of Fame. Now, let's start with Shoeless Joe. He's a career three hundred and fifty six batting average lifetime hitter that's fourth all time in Major League Baseball history.
He did take the five thousand dollars in the Black Sox scandal, but then proceeded to hit three seventy five eighteen points nineteen points highed in his career batting average. In the World Series, he had no errors and he hit the World Series only homer. So what basically people will tell you is he took the money but didn't tank. Again, he batted nineteen points, hired and his career average in the World Series, made no errors, and hit the series only home run, so many will count to that.
Yes, he took the money, but he didn't tank the series. He's been on the ballot a couple times before his death, but was not voted in May happen. Now we're going to get into that in a little more specifics. Let's go to Pete Rose three h three lifetime career hitter.
He's the leader in Major League Baseball history in the following categories hits, games played, doubles, and he's got three World Series rings. Also leads in at bats. He's a Rookie of the Year winner, He's won three batting titles and an MVP, and he's won the most games as a player. He's appeared in more w's as a player than any other player in history.
Charlie Hussell, mister baseball whatever you want to call them, did bet on baseball, but claims to have never bet against the Reds or the team he was managing. I actually believe that now rules are rules, but the band has been lifted. But you know, if you think they're going to get in the hall right away talking about Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose, might have to wait a couple of years. So what happens now is for the Baseball Hall of Fame, there's a Historical Overview Committee, and what they do is they come up with a list of eight names which are forwarded to the Classic Baseball Committee.
They're not scheduled to meet next until December of twenty twenty seven, so over two and a half years from now. There's sixteen people on that committee that will meet in December of twenty twenty seven, and twelve of those sixteen voters have to vote yes for those eight names to get elected into the Hall of Fame. It's pretty much a sure bet that Rose and Shoela's Joe will be two of the eight names forwarded to the Classic Baseball Committee, But there is no guarantee that when they meet in December of twenty twenty seven that they'll get twelve of the sixteen votes. And I'll venture guests, and this is just hunch, got instinct, I've actually believe Shoeless Joe is more of a pun non intended here, more of a shoe in to get twelve of the sixteen votes for entrance into the Hall over Pete Rose.
And here's why. Like I already stated, he really his numbers bear out that he didn't tank in the World Series again, nineteen points higher batting average, the only home run in zero errors, and people who watched the games said, you know, if he was tanking, more players should tank. So I think even though he took the money, I think he took the money with no intention to play a lesser style of play in the World Series, So I think that helps his cause. Pete Rose admitted he betted on baseball.
They both may well get in, but I think again, we're looking into twenty twenty eight Hall of Fame induction for these gentlemen to get in to the Hall. So what's been the immediate impact hobby wise that I can tell. I've done a couple shows since since the ringinstatement. I don't have any Shoeless Joe Jackson cards in my inventory, so I can't speak to sales on that front, though I do have quite a bit of Pete Rose inventory, and I can tell you since the announcement, I've sold more Pete Rose cards then prior to the announcement.
So I think we all know he's still Even before the reinstatement, he was a beloved figure by a lot of people, collectors and in baseball for the accolades and for the player he was. And so when the ban was lifted, you know, like anybody right now, he becomes eligible potentially for the Hall of Fame, and I think his cards become attractive again. I don't have shoeless Joe Jackson cards at this point, but in doing some research and looking at some final sales numbers on eBay, you know, it's kind of studying that for thirty forty it looks like there's been an increase in sales even along those fronts as well. And that's pretty much you know, that shouldn't shock anybody, doesn't shock me.
I think now that they're both eligible, you know, people are going to try to buy their cards before they get into the hall, if they get into the Hall, to you know, before that Hall of Fame bump officially occurs. And it makes sense. We see that even on guys who are not banned, who are just coming up for election, So it doesn't surprise me to be expected. And I think that content that trend continues, and maybe even more so as we get closer to that day where their families can enjoy, you know, put their potential induction into the hall.
You know, someone I got a message from a fan of the show, and they asked me, John, you think I should be buying or looking at buying you know, Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe cards. What would you recommend? What say you? And I said, Hey, that's you know, ultimately, that's that's up to you. You know, if you enjoy those players and you want to add them or more cards to your collection, that's that's what a down to. First again, I told that person, you know, there's no guarantee that either player is going to get in the hall.
If I'm a betting man, no punning, no pun intended, I think they both get in. Is it the same year? Is it staggered? I don't know. I don't know. What I said before Pete Rose died, I said they're going to wait till Pete dies and then it's year enough.
Oh that's exactly so wanted the weigh in. I wanted to even mention the other fifteen people reinstated to be fair to them. So got it done today. I hope you enjoyed the show and we'll see you reels all right, thank you for listening to another episode of Hobby Quickets.
